Peerless
know-how
The ultimate country for wines, France is home to exceptional estates that are today recognised the world over.
In France and abroad, our vineyards honour this reputation with wines that reveal the richness and uniqueness of their terroir.
Unique flavours, born of independence
If the Rothschild name is now synonymous with wine-making excellence, that is because wine has always been a family passion.
A passion that dates back to James de Rothschild’s acquisition of Château Lafite in 1868. Edmond de Rothschild, who dreamed of owning an intimate and discreet vineyard that he could shape as he wished, later went on to acquire Château Clarke. And the Compagnie Vinicole was born. The Edmond de Rothschild family has ever since chosen to remain fully responsible for the production and distribution of its wines, from harvest to marketing. This is extremely rare in Bordeaux, reflecting a quest for uncompromising quality.
Our responsibility is to make the art of living an integral part of our regions and their economic, cultural and artistic life.
We are also duty bound to ensure that know-how is safeguarded and passed on to future generations.
